Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the substrate and fused with a torch.
For length and width, please see the photo. These aqua colored encaustic earrings have a textured surface. The sides are finished with aqua encaustic paint.
These earrings were created using a process I developed to create a substrate using salvaged items including chipboard, wood, or birch bark. The wood used for this pair of earrings was salvaged from a local elementary school dumpster and has been reinforced with glue.
These earrings are finished with resin which provides durability and a glossy finish.
