Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the substrate and fused with a torch.

These encaustic earrings were created using a process I developed to create a substrate using salvaged items including chipboard, wood, or birch bark. The chipboard used for this pair of earrings was sourced from toothpaste boxes. It has a corrugated texture and is brown in color. It has been reinforced with glue.
These earrings are finished with resin which provides durability and a glossy finish.
