This encaustic wall art is unique and earth friendly! Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the wood and fused with a torch.
This art piece is comprised of 7 individual parts combined to create one large piece of work. Each piece has shellac applied over the wax and then burned off. Encaustic medium was then applied to create texture. It is irregularly shaped and measures approximately 54 inches tall, 36 inches wide, and 1 inch deep. The size will vary depending on how close or how far apart the pieces are hung. Sawtooth hangers on back of each piece for easy hanging.
The wood used in this piece was gifted to me from a local resident. The wood was cut by a family member 30+ years ago.
Care of encaustic art:
Gently wipe every 3 months with a soft cotton cloth to dust and restore shine. Do not place in direct sunlight or store in extremely hot (hot car) or cold temperatures (garage in winter). Do not place it outside.
