These earrings will quickly become one of your favorite accessories! Each encaustic earring is unique, lightweight, and earth friendly.
Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the substrate and fused with a torch.
These earrings drop 2.25 inches and are 1 inch across. They feature blue, white, green, and orange under coloring. Purple ink was then applied and burned off to reveal the under coloring.
These encaustic earrings were created using a process I developed to create a substrate using salvaged items including chipboard, wood, or birch bark. The chipboard used for this pair of earrings was sourced from a used coffee carrier from Caribou Coffee.
These earrings not melt up to 150 degrees. They are finished with resin which provides durability and a glossy finish.
The hardware is made of .935 Argentium® Silver whose benefits include:
- Brighter and shinier than sterling silver
- High tarnish resistance
- Stronger than sterling silver
- Nickel free
It is strongly encouraged to wear the backings provided so an earring does not fall out.
These earrings were featured in my 2023 exhibition where I created encaustic earrings based off a 2D piece of art. See the last photo for the 2D piece I referenced.
