This encaustic wall art is unique and earth friendly! Encaustic is a wax-based paint made of beeswax, resin, and pigment. It is applied while in a molten state onto the wood and fused with a torch.
This piece was created by applying several layers of encaustic medium creating a highly textured art piece. The sides are painted red and white with visible drips. This piece measures approximately 18.5 inches tall, 11.25 inches wide, and 0.75 inches deep. Wire hanger on back for easy hanging.
The wood used in this piece was salvaged from a local cabinet company dumpster. Please note that the wood on the left side of the painting is angled at a diagonal to the back of the painting. This can only be seen from the side and back. It is not noticeable when viewing from the front of the art.
Care of encaustic art:
Gently wipe every 3 months with a soft cotton cloth to dust and restore shine. Do not place in direct sunlight or store in extremely hot (hot car) or cold temperatures (garage in winter). Do not place it outside.
